Summary

Sparsentan is a weak CYP2B6 and CYP3A4 inducer and may modestly lower efavirenz levels. Efavirenz, a CYP3A4 inducer, may in turn reduce sparsentan exposure.

What this interaction means in plain words

Efavirenz and Sparsentan can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Efavirenz belongs to Anti Virals; Sparsentan belongs to Genitourinary.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Sparsentan induces CYP2B6, increasing efavirenz clearance, and efavirenz induces CYP3A4 metabolism of sparsentan.

What to do

Monitor HIV viral load and sparsentan response (proteinuria). Adjust therapy if efficacy is lost.
