Summary
Eltrombopag inhibits UGT enzymes in vitro, which could in theory modestly raise exposure to drugs cleared by glucuronidation. Meloxicam is cleared mainly by CYP2C9 and CYP3A4, so a clinically meaningful effect is unlikely.
What this interaction means in plain words
Eltrombopag and Meloxicam have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.
Eltrombopag belongs to Miscellaneous; Meloxicam belongs to Musculoskeletal.
Why it happens
Theoretical UGT inhibition by eltrombopag; meloxicam is metabolized mainly by CYP2C9, so the relevance is unestablished.
What to do
No routine dose change is needed. Watch for NSAID adverse effects such as GI upset or fluid retention if meloxicam is used long term.
