Summary

Beta-blockers and ARBs are commonly combined and produce additive blood pressure lowering. Nonselective beta-blockers can modestly impair cellular potassium uptake and, with an ARB, may slightly raise potassium, and both drug classes are hazardous in pregnancy.

What this interaction means in plain words

Eprosartan and Nadolol have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.

Eprosartan belongs to Cardiovascular; Nadolol belongs to Cardiovascular.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Additive antihypertensive effects, with a small potassium-raising effect from beta-blockade combined with reduced aldosterone activity.

What to do

Monitor blood pressure, heart rate and serum potassium when starting or titrating the combination. Avoid in pregnancy because of ARB fetal toxicity.
