Summary
Erdafitinib inhibits P-glycoprotein and may raise concentrations of P-gp substrates such as verapamil. Increased verapamil exposure could cause bradycardia, hypotension or AV block.
What this interaction means in plain words
Erdafitinib and Verapamil can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Erdafitinib belongs to Oncology; Verapamil belongs to Cardiovascular.
Why it happens
Erdafitinib inhibits intestinal and cellular P-glycoprotein efflux, reducing verapamil clearance and increasing absorption.
What to do
If coadministered, separate dosing by at least 6 hours before or after erdafitinib and monitor heart rate, blood pressure and PR interval. Reduce verapamil dose if bradycardia or hypotension develops.
What to ask your pharmacist
