For healthcare professionals — reference only. This page is a brief summary, not medical advice and not a substitute for official labeling or clinical judgement. Always verify before prescribing or dispensing.
Overview
Additive QTc prolongation with increased risk of torsades de pointes and ventricular arrhythmias, especially with high doses, electrolyte abnormalities, bradycardia, or structural heart disease.
Mechanism of action
Pharmacodynamic: both agents can inhibit cardiac IKr (hERG) potassium currents leading to dose‑related QTc prolongation.
Clinical management
Avoid combination when possible. If necessary, obtain baseline and follow‑up ECGs, correct hypokalemia/hypomagnesemia, use lowest effective doses, avoid additional QT‑prolonging drugs, and monitor for palpitations, syncope, or dizziness.
