Summary
Nefazodone is a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor and can substantially raise flibanserin levels. Severe hypotension, syncope and sedation may result, and nefazodone adds its own sedative effects.
What this interaction means in plain words
Flibanserin and Nefazodone are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Why it happens
Strong CYP3A4 inhibition reduces flibanserin clearance, with additive CNS depression.
What to do
Do not combine; avoid flibanserin in patients taking nefazodone.
