Summary
Ceritinib is a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor and may markedly raise flibanserin concentrations. This can cause severe hypotension, syncope and profound sedation.
What this interaction means in plain words
Ceritinib and Flibanserin are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Ceritinib belongs to Oncology; Flibanserin belongs to Genitourinary.
Why it happens
Inhibition of CYP3A4 metabolism of flibanserin increases its exposure.
What to do
Do not coadminister. Avoid starting flibanserin until at least 2 weeks after stopping the inhibitor.
