Summary

Corticosteroids given with NSAIDs raise the risk of gastric ulceration and bleeding. Fludrocortisone's mainly mineralocorticoid activity also causes fluid retention, which NSAIDs can worsen.

What this interaction means in plain words

Fludrocortisone and Ketoprofen can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Fludrocortisone belongs to Endocrine; Ketoprofen belongs to Musculoskeletal.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Additive mucosal injury from reduced prostaglandin protection and corticosteroid effects, plus additive sodium and fluid retention.

What to do

Use the lowest effective ketoprofen dose and duration, and monitor blood pressure, edema, and GI symptoms. Consider gastroprotection in high-risk patients.
