What this interaction means in plain words
Fluvoxamine and Pimozide are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Fluvoxamine belongs to Central Nervous System; Pimozide belongs to Central Nervous System.
Why it happens
Inhibition of pimozide metabolism (CYP3A4 and CYP1A2) by fluvoxamine, with additive QT prolongation.
What to do
Do not co-administer; select an alternative antidepressant or antipsychotic. If already combined, stop one drug and obtain an ECG.
