Summary

Fezolinetant is metabolised mainly by CYP1A2, and fluvoxamine is a strong CYP1A2 inhibitor that greatly increases its exposure. This raises the risk of adverse effects including hepatotoxicity.

What this interaction means in plain words

Fezolinetant and Fluvoxamine are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.

Fezolinetant belongs to Endocrine; Fluvoxamine belongs to Central Nervous System.

Evidence level: High

Why it happens

Strong CYP1A2 inhibition by fluvoxamine markedly reduces fezolinetant clearance.

What to do

Do not use together; choose a different antidepressant or vasomotor symptom treatment. If fezolinetant is used, monitor liver tests per labeling.

What to ask your pharmacist
