Summary
Timolol adds to the blood pressure lowering of the combination product, which may cause hypotension or bradycardia. Beta-blockers may also slightly raise potassium while thiazides lower it, so the net effect on potassium is variable. Beta-blockers can mildly impair glucose tolerance alongside thiazides.
What this interaction means in plain words
Fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide and Timolol have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.
Fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide belongs to Cardiovascular; Timolol belongs to Cardiovascular.
Why it happens
Additive antihypertensive pharmacodynamic effects; beta-blockade may reduce cellular potassium uptake, opposing thiazide-induced potassium loss.
