What this interaction means in plain words

Gentamicin and Letibotulinumtoxina can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Additive impairment of neuromuscular transmission, with aminoglycosides reducing presynaptic acetylcholine release and botulinum toxin blocking its release.

What to do

Avoid giving gentamicin around the time of botulinum toxin injection where possible. If both are needed, monitor for generalized weakness, dysphagia and respiratory compromise.
