Summary
Henbane contains the antimuscarinic alkaloids hyoscyamine and scopolamine, which add to paliperidone's anticholinergic effects. Anticholinergic slowing of gut transit might also alter oral absorption, and confusion, constipation and urinary retention can result.
What this interaction means in plain words
Henbane and Paliperidone can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Why it happens
Additive antimuscarinic effects; reduced GI motility may alter absorption of the oral drug.
What to do
Avoid combining where possible, or monitor for anticholinergic toxicity and loss of antipsychotic effect.
