Summary
Imlifidase cleaves IgG, so an IgG-based antibody given while imlifidase is still active can be degraded before it works. Rituximab given too soon after imlifidase may lose efficacy, for example in B-cell depletion for desensitization or antibody-mediated rejection.
What this interaction means in plain words
Imlifidase and Rituximab can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Imlifidase belongs to Miscellaneous; Rituximab belongs to Musculoskeletal.
Why it happens
Imlifidase is an IgG-cleaving endopeptidase that enzymatically degrades therapeutic IgG antibodies such as rituximab.
What to do
Give rituximab at least 4 days after imlifidase, as stated in the product labeling. Plan the transplant immunosuppression schedule around this interval.
What to ask your pharmacist
- Should I take them at different times of day?
- Does the dose of either medicine need to change?
- Is there anything I should avoid, such as alcohol or certain foods, while on both?
