Summary
Olanzapine has anticholinergic activity that can add to inhaled glycopyrronium, raising the risk of dry mouth, constipation, urinary retention, blurred vision and tachycardia. Beta-2 agonists such as indacaterol may also slightly add to QT effects of antipsychotics.
What this interaction means in plain words
Indacaterol-glycopyrronium and Olanzapine can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Indacaterol-glycopyrronium belongs to Respiratory; Olanzapine belongs to Central Nervous System.
Why it happens
Additive antimuscarinic effects, plus possible minor additive QT prolongation and hypokalemia from the beta-2 agonist.
What to do
Monitor for anticholinergic effects, especially in older patients or those with glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy or ileus. Check ECG and potassium if other QT-prolonging risk factors are present.
