Summary

Osimertinib can prolong the QTc interval, and indapamide may add to this through electrolyte disturbance, mainly hypokalemia and hypomagnesemia. This increases the risk of torsades de pointes in susceptible patients.

What this interaction means in plain words

Indapamide and Osimertinib can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Indapamide belongs to Cardiovascular; Osimertinib belongs to Oncology.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Additive QT prolongation, with diuretic-induced electrolyte depletion lowering the repolarization reserve.

What to do

Monitor ECG and serum potassium, magnesium and calcium periodically, and correct abnormalities before and during osimertinib therapy.

What to ask your pharmacist

  • Should I take them at different times of day?
  • Does the dose of either medicine need to change?
