What this interaction means in plain words

Isoflurane and Propafenone can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Isoflurane belongs to Central Nervous System; Propafenone belongs to Cardiovascular.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Additive effects on cardiac conduction, repolarization and myocardial contractility.

What to do

Tell the anesthesia team about propafenone use before surgery. Monitor the ECG and hemodynamics continuously and maintain normal electrolytes.
