Summary
Nefazodone is a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor and raises ivabradine plasma concentrations. This increases the likelihood of significant bradycardia and conduction block.
What this interaction means in plain words
Ivabradine and Nefazodone are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Why it happens
Nefazodone inhibits CYP3A4, decreasing ivabradine clearance.
What to do
Do not co-administer; use a different antidepressant that does not inhibit CYP3A4.
