Summary
Ketanserin is a serotonin 5-HT2 and alpha-1 antagonist with antihypertensive effects. Combined with tizanidine it may produce additive hypotension. Ketanserin can also prolong the QT interval, which is unrelated to tizanidine's main effects but relevant to overall risk.
What this interaction means in plain words
Ketanserin and Tizanidine can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Why it happens
Additive hypotension from alpha-1 and 5-HT2 antagonism with central alpha-2 agonism.
What to do
Monitor blood pressure and orthostatic symptoms. Reduce the dose of either drug if hypotension occurs.
What to ask your pharmacist
