Summary

Sufentanil is cleared mainly by CYP3A4, and nilotinib can inhibit this enzyme. Higher sufentanil levels could increase opioid effects including sedation and respiratory depression. Nilotinib also prolongs QT, though sufentanil has little QT effect.

What this interaction means in plain words

Nilotinib and Sufentanil can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Nilotinib belongs to Oncology; Sufentanil belongs to Musculoskeletal.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Nilotinib inhibition of CYP3A4 reduces sufentanil clearance.

What to do

Monitor sedation and respiratory rate, and titrate sufentanil to effect using the lowest effective dose.
