Summary
Succinylcholine raises serum potassium transiently, and potassium acid phosphate supplies additional potassium. In patients with renal impairment or high baseline potassium this may cause hyperkalemia and arrhythmias.
What this interaction means in plain words
Potassium acid and Succinylcholine can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Why it happens
Additive increase in serum potassium from depolarization-induced efflux with succinylcholine and potassium supplementation.
What to do
Check serum potassium before giving succinylcholine and withhold potassium supplements if elevated; monitor ECG and potassium perioperatively.
