Summary

Rozanolixizumab blocks the neonatal Fc receptor, which lowers circulating IgG and may accelerate clearance of IgG-based antibodies such as rituximab. Rituximab exposure and effect could therefore be reduced.

What this interaction means in plain words

Rituximab and Rozanolixizumab can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Rituximab belongs to Musculoskeletal; Rozanolixizumab belongs to Miscellaneous.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

FcRn blockade increases catabolism of IgG monoclonal antibodies, lowering rituximab exposure.

What to do

Monitor for reduced rituximab effect, for example B-cell counts and disease response. If rituximab is essential long-term, consider an alternative to rozanolixizumab.

What to ask your pharmacist

  • Should I take them at different times of day?
  • Does the dose of either medicine need to change?
  • Is there anything I should avoid, such as alcohol or certain foods, while on both?
