What this interaction means in plain words

Albuterol and Sevoflurane can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Additive effects on repolarization and beta-2 mediated hypokalemia and tachycardia that promote arrhythmia.

What to do

Monitor ECG and serum potassium in patients receiving frequent or high-dose albuterol. Correct hypokalemia before and during anesthesia.
