Résumé
Entecavir, a nucleoside analogue, has been associated with lactic acidosis and severe hepatomegaly with steatosis. Metformin carries its own risk of lactic acidosis, so using both may add to that risk, particularly in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
Ce que signifie cette interaction, en termes simples
Alogliptin-metformin and Entecavir can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Alogliptin-metformin belongs to Endocrine; Entecavir belongs to Anti Virals.
Pourquoi elle survient
Additive risk of lactic acidosis through mitochondrial toxicity (entecavir) and impaired lactate clearance (metformin); no direct pharmacokinetic interaction is established.
Conduite à tenir
Monitor renal and hepatic function periodically and educate the patient to report nausea, abdominal pain, malaise or rapid breathing. Check lactate and stop metformin if lactic acidosis is suspected.
