Phenytoin markedly lowers doravirine concentrations, which may result in loss of virologic response and NNRTI resistance.

Doravirine and Phenytoin are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.

Phenytoin induces CYP3A4, which is the main metabolic pathway of doravirine.

Do not co-administer; use a non-inducing anticonvulsant. Doravirine labeling also advises against starting it soon after inducer discontinuation until induction wanes.
