Stimulates calcium and phosphate absorption from small intestine; stimulates phosphate resorption at renal tubule; stimulates secretion of calcium into blood from bone

Nutritional Supplementation (19-70 years): 600 IU (15 mcg)/day.

- Safe Vitamin D2. Usual daily doses are safe in pregnancy. Avoid high doses unless treating confirmed deficiency under supervision: excess vitamin D can harm the fetus (in animals and linked to a heart and facial syndrome in infants).
- 授乳
- Safe Vitamin D is normally in milk. Usual doses are compatible but do not give the infant enough, so breastfed infants need 400 IU daily drops. Large maternal doses have caused high calcium in an infant; monitor the infant's calcium then.

- Maintain normal serum phosphorous concentrations in patients treated for hyperphosphatemia to prevent metastatic calcification
