概要
Isocarboxazid irreversibly inhibits monoamine oxidase, and phenylephrine is a direct alpha-1 agonist; with MAO inhibition pressor response is potentiated because MAO inhibition reduces catecholamine breakdown and sensitises tissues. Heart-rate and blood pressure rises, arrhythmia or a hypertensive crisis can result.
この相互作用をわかりやすく説明すると
Isocarboxazid and Phenylephrine are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.

なぜ起こるのか
MAO inhibition potentiating sympathomimetic/pressor activity
