Pharmacist to Abu Dhabi: the DOH license, TAMM, DataFlow and the Pearson VUE exam, step by step
A step-by-step guide for pharmacists who studied outside the UAE, written with Egyptian and Arab graduates in mind: the order of the DOH, TAMM, DataFlow and Pearson VUE steps, the documents, the fees and timings we could confirm, and the points that still need your own check.
Last checked: 31 October 2026 against Pearson VUE's DOH page, DataFlow's DOH pages and a search summary of TAMM, plus the full unified PQR (3rd version, April 2025) and DOH Circular 2025/239, DOH's CPD page and DHA's licensing manual. DOH does not publish the exam format or fees, and TAMM could not be read directly, so those details are marked not confirmed.Written by Omar Mahmoud, BSc Pharm, licensed pharmacist (SCFHS, Egypt MOH)
On 30 October 2026 we read the full unified PQR (3rd version, April 2025) from DOH's site, but not the TAMM service pages, and DOH publishes no exam format or fee table that we could find. Open the DOH Professional Qualification Requirements page and the TAMM licence service yourself before you pay for anything.
This guide is general information, not legal or immigration advice. MediHelp is not affiliated with DOH, TAMM, DataFlow or Pearson VUE.
The path, step by step
The Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DOH) licenses health professionals in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra through its licensing service on TAMM, the Abu Dhabi government portal. Exams are delivered by Pearson VUE. In order:
Check the qualification requirements
Read the Unified Healthcare Professional Qualification Requirements (PQR) on the DOH PQR page. It is issued jointly by MOHAP, DOH, DHA and SHA. In the April 2025 unified PQR, 3rd version (DOH copy), the Pharmacist title needs a BSc in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy plus 2 years of experience after qualification in a related field, and experience with pharmaceutical companies or as a sales representative is not accepted. DOH Circular 2025/239 of 27 November 2025 announced this updated version, which replaces earlier versions.
Sign in to TAMM with UAE PASS and open the licence service
Go to the TAMM Issue a Healthcare Professional Licence page and sign in with UAE PASS. A search summary of that page lists passport, personal photo and academic qualifications as required documents. It also listed an AED 100 application fee and an AED 100 written exam fee for pharmacists, and about 3 months; we could not open the live page to confirm, and a consultancy quotes a higher exam fee.
Start the DataFlow primary source verification
Go to DataFlow's DOH verification page, choose Apply Now and select the registration domain. Choose New user, then Applicant, and create a username and password. If you have no DOH Unique ID (UIN) yet, generate one. Activate your account from the email, upload your employment proofs, experience certificates, health licenses and educational qualifications, pay in the gateway, and keep the case number emailed to you. You can track the case and download the report from DataFlow's status page.
Get your application approved by DOH
Pearson VUE states that your application must first be approved by the DOH Health Professionals Licensing Department before you can book (Pearson VUE DOH page). Track it in TAMM.
Pay the pre-booking fee in TAMM and book on Pearson VUE
After approval, start the pre-booking payment in TAMM. Once DOH has processed it, a Pearson VUE link appears in TAMM in the action drop-down. Choose the date, time and test centre in Pearson VUE, print the booking confirmation and bring it to the centre. Pearson's emails come from an address ending in @pearson.com, so check your spam folder. You schedule, reschedule and cancel by logging in through TAMM. Use Pearson's Find a test center page to see centres, including whether any are in Egypt: we could not confirm that.
Sit the exam
The exam format depends on your title. DOH publishes no question count, duration or pass mark for pharmacists that we could find. Consultancies quote a computer-based test with a pass or fail result and results within 24 hours. Treat those figures as unconfirmed. Pearson's DOH page gives no ID rules; a consultancy says online (OnVUE) exams need government photo ID matching your booking name, so check the ID rules in your booking confirmation.
Finish the licence application and pay
With a positive DataFlow report and a pass, complete the licence application in TAMM and pay the licence fee. A consultancy estimates 2 to 4 weeks for review, but DOH's figure is not confirmed.
Start work with an Abu Dhabi employer
The licence is valid only in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, per a consultancy summary, and a facility sponsorship is the normal route. Residence visa, Emirates ID and medical fitness steps are not described on the official pages we could read.
Renew and keep your CPD
DOH's CPD page says CPD hours are mandatory for renewal but gives no figures. The unified PQR (3rd version, April 2025) sets 20 CPD points a year for pharmacists (40 for physicians and dentists, 20 for nurses); a consultancy's figure of 40 hours a year matches the physician minimum. A consultancy states a 2-year licence, which is not confirmed.
Who this guide is for
Pharmacists with a pharmacy degree from outside the UAE who want to work in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain or Al Dhafra. Dubai uses DHA, Sharjah uses SHA and the other northern emirates use MOHAP, so pick the authority of the emirate where you will work.
UAE nationals and the children of Emirati women are exempt from the authority exams, according to the unified PQR (April 2025 text). Exam exemptions cover the exam only: credentialing, experience and verification still apply.
Documents checklist
Passport and a personal photo (named on the TAMM service page summary).
Degree certificate and transcript.
Home-country license and a Good Standing Certificate issued within 6 months (a consultancy's list, consistent with DHA's rule).
Experience letters with exact dates and health licenses for each country you worked in (DataFlow's upload list).
Medical fitness, police clearance and Emirates ID are listed by a consultancy for later stages. We could not confirm them on DOH pages.
Attestation and translation rules: we found no official statement. Ask DOH or check TAMM before you pay for attestation.
DataFlow primary source verification
The applicant starts the verification at DataFlow's DOH portal, or the facility starts it for its own staff. The official DataFlow page gives the steps but no amounts or durations.
A DataFlow support page, seen as a search summary, listed AED 300 for each additional document verified, AED 100 to re-issue a previous DOH report and AED 200 to re-issue a report from another authority. We could not confirm the date of these figures.
DataFlow's DOH how-to-apply guide (written for facilities, August 2026) gives 25 working days for standard processing and 14 working days for express, at extra cost, both counted from payment and complete documents.
A consultancy estimates 3 to 8 weeks for the verification, longer for some countries. This is not an official figure.
DOH accepts DataFlow reports, but check whether a report from another UAE authority can be transferred to your DOH file.
The DOH exam
The only official facts we could read are on Pearson VUE's DOH page: the exam is delivered by Pearson VUE, you need DOH approval first, and you book through TAMM. Nothing official that we could read states the pharmacist question count, duration, pass mark or content outline.
Attempts: the unified PQR grants 3 attempts across the authorities (DHA, DOH, MOHAP and SHA), with one last attempt in a different authority after failing 3 attempts with another. A consultancy adds a 3-month wait after a fail and 12 months after a third fail; DHA's own manual says it applies no waiting period, so confirm DOH's rule. The clause numbers are 1.5.4 to 1.5.6 in the April 2025 unified PQR, which we read on DOH's site.
The exam step is reported to stay valid for about 6 months (consultancy, not confirmed).
Format and pass mark can change without notice.

After you are licensed
Validity: a consultancy states 2 years, other summaries gave different periods. Check your licence certificate in TAMM.
Renewal is done through TAMM with CPD hours; DOH's CPD page confirms CPD is mandatory for renewal.
A DOH licence applies in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra only. To work in Dubai or the northern emirates you apply to DHA, SHA or MOHAP. DHA's licensing manual lists applying within 5 years of a DOH licence cancellation, with no practice gap and the PQR met, as an exemption from its exam.
Residence visa and Emirates ID are arranged with your employer.
Common pitfalls
Trying to book Pearson VUE before DOH has approved your application.
Booking outside TAMM: the exam link appears only after the pre-booking payment is processed.
A name that differs between your application and your ID.
Counting exam attempts in other UAE authorities: all attempts are shared, so declare them honestly.
Paying for services on the strength of a consultancy's fee table: the TAMM figures in a search summary are lower than some blogs, so check TAMM itself.
Using recalled questions.
Your follow-up checklist
Tick these off as you go. Signed-in Egyptian accounts can track the same list in the MediHelp app and on the website.

What we could not confirm
The pharmacist exam's question count, duration, pass mark and content.
Which fee is right: the TAMM summary or the consultancy figure.
Licence validity and renewal fees.
Attestation and translation rules, and Pearson VUE centres in Egypt.
Frequently asked questions
Is the DOH exam the same as the DHA exam?
No. DOH uses Pearson VUE and DHA uses Prometric. DHA publishes a content outline and pass mark for pharmacists, while DOH publishes neither that we could find.
How many times can I fail?
The unified PQR sets 3 attempts across all UAE authorities combined, with one last attempt in another authority. Confirm any waiting period with DOH.
Can I reuse a DataFlow report from Dubai?
A DataFlow support page, seen only as a search summary, lists fees for re-issuing a report from another authority. Ask DataFlow and DOH which report applies to your DOH file.
Why is this guide less detailed than the Dubai one?
DOH's pages for the exam and fees were not readable by our tools, and DOH publishes no pharmacist exam format. We listed only what we could confirm and marked the rest.
Does MediHelp have a DOH question bank?
Not yet. MediHelp's UAE banks will have original practice questions written from official reference lists, not real exam questions.
