Para que é usado
Como funciona
Inhibits gastric and pancreatic lipases, prevents triglyceride hydrolysis resulting in decreased absorption of dietary fats
Dose habitual em adultos (resumo da bula)
(Xenical): 120 mg PO q8hr with each fat-containing meal (during or up to 1 hr after the meal), doses >120 mg TID show no additional benefit
Gravidez e amamentação
- Gravidez
- Unknown Not for use in pregnancy: weight loss offers no benefit in pregnancy and may harm the fetus (US label contraindication). No embryo toxicity or malformations in animals at high doses. Stop if pregnancy occurs; the EU label advises caution.
- Amamentação
- Safe Very little is absorbed; a small amount was found in one woman's milk. EU label contraindicates breastfeeding (no data); US label: caution. LactMed: unlikely to affect the infant; the mother should take a multivitamin at bedtime because it lowers fat-soluble vitamin absorption.
Efeitos adversos relatados
- Flatulence
- Oily spotting
- Fatty/oily stool
- Increased defecation
Quem deve ter cuidado
