Resumo
Mecasermin has insulin-like glucose-lowering action and can cause hypoglycemia. Combined with acarbose, the risk is modest because acarbose alone rarely causes hypoglycemia, but mecasermin-related hypoglycemia treated with oral sucrose may respond poorly.
O que esta interação significa em palavras simples
Acarbose and Mecasermin can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Acarbose belongs to Endocrine; Mecasermin belongs to Endocrine.
Por que acontece
Additive glucose lowering from IGF-1 receptor activation plus delayed carbohydrate absorption.
O que fazer
Monitor blood glucose and give mecasermin with a meal or snack. Treat hypoglycemia with glucose rather than sucrose.
