Resumo
Systemic miconazole inhibits CYP3A4 and may substantially raise cabazitaxel exposure, increasing the risk of severe neutropenia. Topical or buccal use produces less systemic effect, but oral gel can still be absorbed.
O que esta interação significa em palavras simples
Cabazitaxel and Miconazole can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Cabazitaxel belongs to Oncology; Miconazole belongs to Anti Fungals.
Por que acontece
Miconazole inhibits CYP3A4, reducing cabazitaxel metabolism.
O que fazer
Avoid systemic miconazole, using a non-inhibiting antifungal; if unavoidable, monitor blood counts closely and consider reducing the cabazitaxel dose.
