Как действует
Ornidazole of the 5-nitroimidazole drug family is used to treat protozoan and anaerobic bacterial infections via a mechanism that involves preactivation by reduction of the nitro group, and production of toxic derivatives and radicals.

Amebiasis: 500 mg BID for 5-10 days

- Unknown Nitroimidazole like metronidazole; not marketed in the US or UK, so there is no FDA or EMA label. Human pregnancy data are limited; animal studies showed no malformations. Metronidazole has far more pregnancy data and is preferred; if ornidazole is needed, avoid the 1st trimester where possible.

- Unknown Low milk levels after IV doses; no infant studies. LactMed: as with metronidazole, watch for thrush; avoid breastfeeding for 3 days after a single dose (long half-life); other drugs or vaginal treatment are preferred. e-lactancia: probably compatible.
