- Unknown Topical antifungal with low skin absorption; little human data. Some EU labels advise avoiding it in pregnancy, especially the 1st trimester. Clotrimazole or miconazole have more pregnancy data and are preferred.

- Safe Not known whether it passes into milk; skin absorption is low. Some EU labels advise against use while breastfeeding (animal milk data only). Like other topical imidazoles it is not expected to affect the infant; do not apply to the breast, and clotrimazole or miconazole have more data.

- Experimental hepatic toxicity was seen with systemic administration in several animal species, despite reassuring clinical data and low transcutaneous absorption.
- Systemic effects are unlikely because absorption through healthy skin is very low, but caution is needed on damaged skin, over large areas, or in infants (surface/weight ratio, occlusive effect of nappies).
- Not for ophthalmic use.
