摘要
Isocarboxazid inhibits monoamine oxidase and so reduces serotonin breakdown, while desipramine is a tricyclic antidepressant that blocks norepinephrine reuptake and, to a lesser degree, serotonin reuptake. Together this can precipitate serotonin syndrome, with agitation, hyperthermia, clonus and autonomic instability that may be fatal. Hypertensive reactions are also possible with tricyclic agents.
