Summary
Iloperidone blocks alpha-1 adrenergic receptors and can cause orthostatic hypotension. Combined with the amlodipine and benazepril antihypertensive combination, the blood pressure lowering effect is additive, with a risk of dizziness, syncope and falls.
What this interaction means in plain words
Amlodipine-benazepril and Iloperidone can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Amlodipine-benazepril belongs to Cardiovascular; Iloperidone belongs to Central Nervous System.
Why it happens
Additive pharmacodynamic hypotension from alpha-1 blockade by iloperidone together with vasodilation by amlodipine and ACE inhibition by benazepril.
What to do
Monitor blood pressure and orthostatic symptoms, especially during iloperidone titration or when doses change. Reduce the antihypertensive dose if symptomatic hypotension develops.
What to ask your pharmacist
