Summary

Nicardipine is a second dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, so combining it with amlodipine duplicates therapy and increases the risk of hypotension, reflex tachycardia, flushing, headache and peripheral edema without added benefit. Nicardipine also inhibits CYP3A4 and may modestly raise amlodipine levels.

What this interaction means in plain words

Amlodipine-olmesartan-hydrochlorothiazide and Nicardipine can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.

Amlodipine-olmesartan-hydrochlorothiazide belongs to Cardiovascular; Nicardipine belongs to Cardiovascular.
