Summary
Both can impair renal function, and amphotericin B also causes potassium and magnesium wasting. Oxaliplatin is renally eliminated, so reduced kidney function may increase its exposure and toxicity. Nephrotoxicity of oxaliplatin alone is less than that of cisplatin.
What this interaction means in plain words
Amphotericin b and Oxaliplatin can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Amphotericin b belongs to Anti Fungals; Oxaliplatin belongs to Oncology.
Why it happens
Additive nephrotoxicity, with reduced renal clearance of platinum.
What to do
Monitor serum creatinine, potassium and magnesium regularly. Adjust the oxaliplatin dose if renal function declines.
