Summary

Glofitamab induces cytokine release, which can transiently suppress CYP450 activity, particularly around the first doses. Bendamustine is partly metabolized by CYP1A2 to minor active metabolites, so exposure to these may change, although the clinical effect is uncertain.

What this interaction means in plain words

Bendamustine and Glofitamab can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Bendamustine belongs to Oncology; Glofitamab belongs to Oncology.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Cytokine-mediated downregulation of CYP1A2 during cytokine release syndrome may reduce bendamustine metabolism.

What to do

Monitor for bendamustine toxicity such as myelosuppression and infections, especially during glofitamab initiation and any cytokine release syndrome episodes.

What to ask your pharmacist

  • Should I take them at different times of day?
  • Does the dose of either medicine need to change?
  • Is there anything I should avoid, such as alcohol or certain foods, while on both?
