Chlorothiazide is a second thiazide diuretic, so combining it with a product that already contains hydrochlorothiazide duplicates therapy. This increases the risk of hypokalemia, hyponatremia, hypomagnesemia, volume depletion and hypotension, with limited added benefit.
What this interaction means in plain words
Chlorothiazide and Enalapril-hydrochlorothiazide can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Why it happens
Additive thiazide-mediated inhibition of sodium chloride reabsorption in the distal tubule, increasing urinary potassium, sodium and water loss.
