Summary
Reduced inflammation during IL-17A blockade may restore CYP450 activity that was suppressed by cytokines, theoretically lowering cyclosporine concentrations. A clinically important effect has not been established. Combined immunosuppression also raises infection concerns.
What this interaction means in plain words
Cyclosporin and Ixekizumab have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.
Cyclosporin belongs to Miscellaneous; Ixekizumab belongs to Miscellaneous.
Why it happens
Cytokine normalization may modestly increase CYP-mediated cyclosporine metabolism; this is theoretical.
What to do
Check cyclosporine trough levels and clinical response when ixekizumab is started or stopped. Monitor for infection.
