Summary
Oxycodone is metabolized partly by CYP2D6 to oxymorphone, but CYP3A4 is the main pathway, so darifenacin has little clinical effect on its overall exposure. Both drugs slow gut and bladder function, so constipation and urinary retention can be additive.
What this interaction means in plain words
Darifenacin and Oxycodone have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.
Darifenacin belongs to Genitourinary; Oxycodone belongs to Musculoskeletal.
Why it happens
Weak CYP2D6 inhibition may reduce formation of oxymorphone, and the two drugs have additive effects on smooth muscle.
What to do
No dose adjustment is needed. Monitor for constipation and urinary retention.
