What this interaction means in plain words

Deflazacort and Ethacrynic acid can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Deflazacort belongs to Miscellaneous; Ethacrynic acid belongs to Cardiovascular.

Why it happens

Loop diuretic-induced renal potassium wasting is added to the mineralocorticoid-related potassium loss caused by corticosteroids.

What to do

Monitor serum potassium and magnesium periodically, especially at the start of therapy or after dose changes. Give potassium supplementation as needed.
