What this interaction means in plain words
Degarelix and Hydroxyzine can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Degarelix belongs to Endocrine; Hydroxyzine belongs to Respiratory.
Why it happens
Additive QT prolongation through cardiac repolarization effects.
What to do
Avoid if an alternative antihistamine or anxiolytic is suitable. If used together, obtain a baseline ECG, correct potassium and magnesium, and monitor the QTc.
