Summary

Triptorelin, a GnRH agonist, can prolong the QT interval through androgen deprivation. Eliglustat can cause PR, QRS and QT prolongation at higher exposures. Combined use may add to the risk of arrhythmia, including torsades de pointes.

What this interaction means in plain words

Eliglustat and Triptorelin can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Eliglustat belongs to Miscellaneous; Triptorelin belongs to Endocrine.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Additive QT prolongation: androgen deprivation from triptorelin plus the cardiac conduction effects of eliglustat.

What to do

Obtain a baseline ECG and correct potassium and magnesium before combining. Repeat the ECG periodically, and consider alternatives if the QTc becomes markedly prolonged.

What to ask your pharmacist

  • Should I take them at different times of day?
  • Does the dose of either medicine need to change?
  • Is there anything I should avoid, such as alcohol or certain foods, while on both?
