What this interaction means in plain words
Eprosartan and Piroxicam can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Eprosartan belongs to Cardiovascular; Piroxicam belongs to Musculoskeletal.
Why it happens
NSAID inhibition of renal prostaglandins reduces renal perfusion and sodium excretion, opposing ARB effects and impairing glomerular filtration.
What to do
Maintain hydration and monitor blood pressure, serum creatinine and potassium after starting piroxicam. Use an alternative analgesic in high-risk patients.
What to ask your pharmacist
- Should I take them at different times of day?
