Summary
Tizanidine is a centrally acting alpha-2 agonist that lowers blood pressure and can cause hypotension, dizziness and bradycardia. Combined with an ARB and thiazide, the hypotensive effect is additive.
What this interaction means in plain words
Eprosartan-hydrochlorothiazide and Tizanidine can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Eprosartan-hydrochlorothiazide belongs to Cardiovascular; Tizanidine belongs to Musculoskeletal.
Why it happens
Additive blood pressure lowering from central alpha-2 agonism together with angiotensin receptor blockade and diuresis.
What to do
Monitor blood pressure, especially during tizanidine initiation and dose titration. Reduce the tizanidine dose or antihypertensive doses if symptomatic hypotension occurs.
