Summary
Eribulin can prolong the QT interval and granisetron has a smaller QT effect. Used together they may add to the risk of ventricular arrhythmia, especially with electrolyte disturbances. Chemotherapy-related vomiting makes electrolyte loss more likely.
What this interaction means in plain words
Eribulin and Granisetron can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Eribulin belongs to Oncology; Granisetron belongs to Gastrointestinal Tract.
Why it happens
Additive QT interval prolongation.
What to do
Check ECG at baseline and periodically, and correct hypokalemia and hypomagnesemia. Avoid the combination in congenital long QT syndrome, or use an antiemetic with less QT effect.
What to ask your pharmacist
- Should I take them at different times of day?
- Does the dose of either medicine need to change?
- Is there anything I should avoid, such as alcohol or certain foods, while on both?
