Summary

Indacaterol, a long-acting beta2 agonist, can prolong the QT interval at high exposure and cause hypokalemia, and fluconazole may add to QT effects. Fluconazole may also modestly raise indacaterol exposure by inhibiting transporters and enzymes involved in its clearance, although clinical relevance at standard doses is limited.

What this interaction means in plain words

Fluconazole and Indacaterol inhaled can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Why it happens

What to do

Use the usual inhaled dose and monitor for palpitations and arrhythmia in patients with cardiac disease. Check potassium and consider an ECG in high-risk patients.
