Summary

What this interaction means in plain words
Gemfibrozil and Ombitasvir / paritaprevir / ritonavir and dasabuvir are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Why it happens
Gemfibrozil and its glucuronide inhibit CYP2C8-mediated metabolism of dasabuvir, markedly increasing its plasma levels.
What to do
Do not use together. Switch to a different lipid-lowering drug, such as fenofibrate or a statin, before starting the antiviral regimen.
