What this interaction means in plain words
Glyburide-metformin and Moxifloxacin can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Glyburide-metformin belongs to Endocrine; Moxifloxacin belongs to Anti Bacterial.
Why it happens
Fluoroquinolones block pancreatic beta-cell potassium channels, stimulating insulin release in addition to glyburide.
What to do
Monitor blood glucose during the antibiotic course and counsel the patient on hypoglycemia symptoms. Consider reducing the glyburide dose or choosing a non-quinolone in high-risk patients.
